I tried unchecking the 'don't show file types' and put in.txt instead - still does not work. I also tried opening it in WordPad/Notepad but it did not encode it. My friend e-mailed this document to me with a Mac - I have a Windows. He said that he used Microsoft Word yet this stupid thing won't. This has been happening to me a couple of times now in the last 2 weeks, and it seems to be getting worse. I am editing a document, selecting a couple lines of text and clicking the bullets button. Everything comes to a halt and I get the following error: Microsoft Office Word has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Either microsoft comes back again by itself or when i open the same doc again i can recover to a document that microsoft marks as repaired Sometimes it displays this after a repair but not always: word repair file internal data integrity type 4 I can make it happen over and over again. I tried saving the doc and closing word after the recovery, removing all the temp files etc but no difference.

Hi, I'm not able to reproduce this issue on my side. We can do some basic troubleshooting steps first. Start Word in safe mode: Press Win + R, type 'winword.exe /safe' in the Run window, press Enter. In safe mode 3rd-party add-ins are disabled, this will help determine whether add-ins are the culprit. Start Word as administrator. This will help determine whether permission is the cause.

I have a same problem. I couldn't find ListGal.dat file, in my user folder nor any user folder. Hidden files are listed. Do you have any suggestions? Which version of Word are you running? Older versions of Word do not make use of the ListGal.dat file at all.
